MARK OVERETT - Producer, Writer, Format Creator

His feature film producer credits include: NZ comedy “Separation City”; Danish/Australian comedy adventure “At World’s End”;  sci-fi comedy Finnish/German/Australian co-production “Iron Sky” which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival; and the supernatural thriller “The Fear of Darkness”.

 

In New Zealand, he produced or executive produced a range of game show and lifestyle programmes including “100 Hours”; “The Ultimate Do Up”; “Grass Roots Business”; “City Girls”; as well as co-creating “Our Place”.   Prior to this, Mark lived in the UK for seven years; co-creating “In the Dark with Julian Clary” on LWT which rolled out as a format into 30 countries, making it the most successful comedy game show of its time.

 

Mark has written and/or produced documentaries inc “Running Away” (Ch9); “Kids and Drugs” with George Negus (Ch7); “Albatross” (RSPB & Community TV UK); and he was Story Editor & Consultant Producer on hit entertainment doco “ABBA – Bang-A-Boomerang” (ABC-TV).  Prior to this, he was Managing/Creative Director for an award-winning, boutique advertising agency for some 10 years… and was singer in Brisbane indie-punk band Leap in the Dark.

 

Mark was co-awarded SPAA Producer of the Year in 2007 for the film “Unfinished Sky” which premiered in Toronto and won 6 AFI Awards, 4 Inside Film Awards and 4 Critics’ Circe of Australia Awards.

 

Mark’s latest film, supernatural thriller “The Fear of Darkness” (dir Chris Fitchett; starring Penelope Mitchell, Maeve Dermody, Aaron Pedersen and Damien Garvey) recently opened on 252 screens across Russia – and has sold to over 12 countries so far.
