ARCLIGHT WILL TAKE THE FEAR OF DARKNESS TO THE WORLD - October 29, 2013


The Fear of Darkness has been picked up by leading international sales agent Arclight Films for the world. Arclight's Managing Director Gary Hamilton describes TFOD as "an original supernatural thriller with a strong audience appeal." He added "it's going to be a fun ride helping bring "industry veteran" director Chris Fitchett's vision to the big (and small) screen."


The Fear of Darkness joins Ivan Sen's Mystery Road, Greg McLean's Wolf Creek 2 and the Spierig Brothers' Predestination as recent Australian pick-ups by US-based Arclight Films.

Screen Queensland announces successful applicants for the Low Budget Feature Film Initiative, including THE FEAR OF DARKNESS - December 13, 2012


Screen Queensland is delighted to announce the four successful teams that have been selected for The Low Budget Lab. During January and February, the chosen teams will participate in an intensive three week mentoring period to fully prepare for their pitch. Applications were of a very high standard overall and qualifying for The Lab was extremely competitive. In total, 17 applications were received, undergoing an extensive internal and external assessment process. Following these assessments, six teams were interviewed for the coveted Lab places.

The 2013 Lab projects are:


The Fear of Darkness – a supernatural thriller written and directed by Chris Fitchett, produced by Mark Overett.

The Insect King - a coming of age drama written and directed by Priscilla Cameron, produced by Bridget Callow.

World of Chickens – a comedy based on the Nick Earls novel of the same name. Written by Nick Earls and Charlotte George, directed by Charlotte George, produced by Trish Lake, Tait Brady, Chelsea Bruland and Dan Lake.

Melt – a drama written and directed by Sofya Gollan, produced by Della Churchill.


Screen Queensland wishes to congratulate the successful teams and looks forward to the continuing partnership in developing these projects towards a potential production outcome in Queensland.
